His experience covers a number of industries and is mainly in the oil and gas and mining sectors. He has also spent a period on secondment with a major oil company.

In addition, Phil is a regular contributor of articles on various tax issues and has lectured extensively both within the profession and on outside courses. He has been an active member and Secretary of the Brindex tax committee for over 12 years and is author of the tax sections of Daintith and Willoughby's United Kingdom Oil and Gas Law  (published by Sweet & Maxwell) and the Oil Trading Manual  (published by Woodhead Publishing Ltd).

As well as corporate and international tax, Phil has a great deal of knowledge and experience in the fields of petroleum revenue tax, (PRT) and Government royalties, on which he has, for a number of years, been the Brindex representative on the regular consultations that take place between the Industry and the DTI.  His experience also includes assisting the Government of Nova Scotia in developing a new offshore royalty regime.
