Laval trained with Arthur Young and has worked in corporate tax teams in the UK since 1980. While his experience covers a number of different sectors he has concentrated primarily of compliance services for oil and gas companies for most of his career. He is therefore knowledgeable about petroleum revenue tax (PRT) ring fence corporation tax and supplementary charge (SCT).

His work frequently requires the extraction of information from clients’ accounting records in order to prepare the UK tax returns. In recent years he has done a lot of work reconciling income and expenditure amounts returned for PRT purposes to the accounting records of the company, something that is required for all companies with fields subject to PRT. He therefore has a great deal of experience in interrogating Oil Company accounting records.
